    In principle charcoal burning in air could attain temperatures in excess of 1600 C. Is there any evidence that such temperatures are, in fact, reached?

    OK, cracked it 🙂 In https://postimages.org upload pic -> Copy Direct Link -> Select IMG option in Forum -> Paste Direct Link -> Give name -> Pic is added to Forum 🙂
