Brazing

A method for joining separate pieces of iron and steel. Like forging, brazing is done when the metal is hot (typically at a dull red to cherry-red heat, 500-700ºC), using copper or brass solder. Brass solder melts at approximately 800-900ºC. Sometimes the technique can be used for decorative effect. The use of brass solder by steel-workers reflects the way crafts interlocked in earlier times.
