Questions to HMS

Every year a large number of questions are posed by members of the public who make finds and/or uncover problems in local history. The Society does its best to answer these, or at least to say that no answer seems to be available!

However, before doing so it may be useful to search the back numbers of Historical Metallurgy. These are fully searchable from Volume 21.2. Also there will shortly be a glossary in this website and a database that may contain the answer you are looking for.

Archaeologists with no archaeometallurgy speciality may find the HMS datasheets useful.

HMS has no facilities for laboratory analysis.
