HMS visit to the Brescia region, N-Italy on Fri 25 to Sun 27 September 2026

The Historical Metallurgy Society will visit the region of Brescia in Northern Italy in late September 2026. The region was home to the fascinating and unique Brescian iron-making technology. We will visit its best-preserved blast furnace and hammermills, and see a wonderful collection of the products made. Also on the programme are Roman to modern zinc mines, the world-famous Roman 'Winged Victory' bronze statue, and a series of presentations by local researchers. All this while savouring the beautiful landscape and the local gastronomy.
